Metal Working - Diablo Woodworkers
Designed for men and women who have an interest in a variety of metalworking crafts including welding, metal machining (lathe and mill operation), casting and sheet metal forming. Child's Rocker - Part I 

Class introduces the joinery techniques of master craftsman Doug Stowe. Make a child's rocker by using techniques to create mortise and tenon, half lap and dowel joints at odd angles. Scrollsaw Techniques

Oval Shaker Boxes
This course is designed to teach the art of building oval Shaker boxes. Students will build the forms necessary to make the boxes and then build a set of lidded Shaker boxes. Prerequisite: Woodworking I and II at PHEC or instructor approval. (4 weeks) [M15, L12]

Box Making
Box making provides a great vehicle for a small project in exotic woods. Learn to make the jigs necessary to assure tight fitting boxes and at least one instructor selected box project. Prerequisite: Woodworking II at PH Adult or instructor approval. (11 weeks) [M14, L11]

Furniture Making: Queen Anne Table
Introduces the techniques for making a cabriolet furniture leg which is the central feature of Queen Anne style furniture. Class project is a small table with dimensions that maay be modified to suit the student's needs.  Prerequisite: Woodworking I & II at PHEC or instructor approval. (14 weeks) [M15, L14]

Joinery and Jigs
Create various types of joinery and jigs using power tools. Joinery includes miter joints, mortise and tenon, dovetail, dowel, half lap, etc. while using jigs to facilitate making such joinery. Prerequesite: Woodworking I and II at PHEC or instructor approval. (14 weeks) [M15, L14]

Cabinet Making with Biscuits & Pocket Screws
Build different styles of wood cabinets for kitchen, laundry, garage, clockcases and other storage uses. Design selected by student with instructor assistance. Prerequisite: Woodworking II at PH Adult or instructor approval.

Beginning SketchUp for the Woodworker
Google "SketchUp" (free on the internet) is an effective 3D modeling tool. Designed specifically for use in furniture and woodworking to improve quality and integrity of design. Print full-size templates for use in construction. Create designs with molding shapes and turnings and detail joints such as mortise and tennon. (2 weeks) [M16, L4]
